The Minor II V I, like the Major II V I, is a
much used harmonic building block. Like the Major
II V I, it is often used in shortened forms such as
II V, V I and even individual II, V and I
chords.
Of the three minor parent scales -
Pure or
Natural Minor,
Melodic Minor
and Harmonic

Minor scale is the most common (ex.1). Melodic
Minor however does give us an alternative I chord -
I minor 6 (ex.2).
