Service held at Karakatta Cemetery in the Norfolk Chapel 4th May 2009 Funeral Celebrant: - Peter Bygrave Music selections: Orchestral piece (Vince Mendoza), 'I Know It's You' (Donny Hathaway), 'Thank You Jesus' (lyric: Shannon Nelson, music: Michael Nelson) 'Fields Of Gold' (sung by Eva Cassidy) Reading: 'I'm Free' Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God has laid you see I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savoured much Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee God wanted me now; He set me free. Reading: 'John 14 verses 1 - 6' Do not be worried or upset, Jesus told them, "Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my father's house, and I go to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am. You know the way that leads to the place where I am going." Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way to get there?" Jesus answered him: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one goes to the father except by me."
